VP, Risk and Insurance - Hybrid (Finance)

As we advance this life-saving work, we are seeking a Vice President, Risk & Insurance to lead and enhance our risk management strategies-safeguarding our organization, people, and mission.
This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and administering comprehensive risk management programs across Vitalant's multiple operating units. By identifying, mitigating, and transferring risk, the VP will ensure optimal risk management and cost outcomes through effective risk financing and claims management strategies. The position also directs insurance broker activity, serves as the primary contact for commercial insurance underwriters, and collaborates with in-house and external counsel to mitigate legal exposure.
The VP will act as a key liaison for executive risk, property and casualty claims, and insurance matters, while also shaping long-term strategic risk management plans that address customer, operational, technological, employee, and environmental risks.

Requirements
Knowledge/ Education
Bachelor's degree required; Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited College of Law preferred.
Knowledge of executive risk, property and casualty insurance coverages required.
Licenses/ Certifications
ARM or CPHRM (Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management)Certification preferred.
CPCU certification preferred.
Experience
10 years of related experience required. To include
• Five years of risk management and insurance experience, or combination risk management/insurance, and claims/litigation management.
• Prior leadership and management experience
Transfusion medicine, biotherapies, life science, pharmaceutical, hospital, or other health care experience preferred.
Experience with recognized Risk Information Management System preferred.
Experience working in an in-house corporate environment preferred.

Able to organize, prioritize, and execute a variable workload and multiple priorities.
Ability to evaluate multiple business objectives across the system and analyze large risks in light of business goals.
