Job Description: The purpose of this position is to lead and facilitate cross-functional teams in defining and refining the strategic vision for new grocery and liquor stores, while identifying necessary licenses and permits for new Publix locations. It involves managing the application process for these permits and licenses, offering expertise on their maintenance and renewal, and assisting with the corporate governance of Publix subsidiaries. Additionally, the role includes performing legal research and leading other legal, regulatory, and compliance projects for Publix as needed. This position will also manage talent, including hiring, mentoring, supervising, coaching, and providing daily operational guidance to direct reports. In Publix's corporate offices, we value in-person interactions, similar to those our store associates have with customers. This is an in-office role located in our Lakeland, FL, corporate office. What you'll do:
Lead and oversee cross-functional teams (e.g., Real Estate, Construction, Legal) and third parties (e.g., outside legal counsel) to define and refine the strategic vision for new Publix locations. Identify necessary licenses and permits, manage the license application process, and manage other legal, regulatory, and compliance projects, as needed.
Effectively prepare, manage, maintain, distribute, and retain project documentation.
Assist in managing the corporate governance of Publix subsidiaries (business entities).
Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Business Management or other related Business major, or equivalent related work experience
2 years of experience independently managing business projects (i.e., serving as lead for improvement efforts with defined deliverables/outcomes), and 1 year of experience overseeing or applying for licenses/permits (e.g, alcoholic beverages and tobacco licenses, food permits, etc.)
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Basic knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Access
Knowledge of project management techniques, including defining project scope, identifying deliverables, determining timelines, setting project milestones, and leading/managing projects through completion
General knowledge of retail grocery store licenses and permits and the respective licensing authorities
Knowledge of communication types and vehicles used to communicate and manage the status of projects, such as project plans and memos
Strong analytical skill
Excellent interpersonal, and time-management skills
Ability to quickly and proactively identify and analyze issues and develop solutions
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal format
Project Management Techniques
Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Business Management or other related Business major
4 years of experience independently managing business projects (i.e., serving as lead for improvement efforts with defined deliverables/outcomes)
2 years of management experience and 3 years of experience overseeing or applying for licenses/permits (e.g., alcoholic beverages and tobacco licenses, food permits, etc.)
Knowledge in License Pro and SAP
Knowledge in Real Estate Compass
Project Manager certification, such as Certified Project Manager (CPM); Master Project Manager (MPM); Professional in Project Management (PPM); or Project Management Professional (PMP)
Paralegal certification, such as Certified Paralegal (CP) or Certified Legal Assistant (CLA)
Advanced thorough knowledge of licenses and permits, the respective licensing authorities
