Job Description
Job Title: Press Mechanic
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor
Summary
Research Tool & Die Works powered by Fairbanks Morse Defense is seeking a motivated individual to fill a press mechanic position to assist with equipment maintenance and repairs. In this position, you will be required to troubleshoot equipment, repair, maintain, assemble, and dismantle industrial machinery. Knowledge of reading blueprints and drawings is essential while following all safety and ISO standards.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Repair, maintain, dismantle, adjust, and assemble industrial machinery, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operational manuals and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines, including hydraulic and punch presses. Perform and document all First Article and Final Inspection.
- Must be able to read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures, construct foundation for and assemble, dismantle, and overhaul machinery and equipment, using hand and power tools and to direct workers engages in such endeavors. Read part drawings/manuals and specifications to understand the requirements of products and services
- Demonstrate proficient/effective use of skills in electrical, mechanical, automation areas including troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of machine components.
- Perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting to determine problems in non-functioning electro-mechanical equipment used in the manufacturing process.
- Understand fluid mechanics (hydraulics and pneumatics) and all the components involved in these processes, including valves, cylinders, pumps, and compressors.
- Have a basic knowledge of lathes, milling machines and grinders involved in making customized parts or repairs and the ability to perform the basic duties of general pipefitter, carpenter, electrician, and welder, including the ability to work with an array of precision tools
- Adhere to company malpractice, safety, and ethics polices.
- Follow all ISO 90001/AS9100 Policies and Procedures
- Other duties assigned by supervisor
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Must have at least 5-7 years' experience as a class A Maintenance Mechanic
- Must have knowledge of press room equipment which includes, punch press, hydraulic press, and all relevant material
- Technical school or apprentice certificate preferred
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Strong Attention to Detail
- This position includes access or potential access to export-controlled data. Therefore, you will need to qualify as a U.S. Person, which is defined as a U.S. Citizen, a U.S. Permanent Resident or a political asylee in compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Acceptable proof of this status includes a US Passport, Permanent Resident Card, US birth Certificate or Naturalization Certificate. Maintenance, including renewal, of licensing authorization is a condition of employment. Government authorization may be a suitable alternative after review on a case-by-case basis.
- This is a full-time 40 hour per week position; however, overtime will be scheduled as need. The standard shift is from 7:00AM-4:15PM Monday-Thursday and 7:00AM-12:00PM on Friday.
