AVP, Nursing (Healthcare)
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures team members, initiatives and daily operational performance aligns with CARTIs mission, vision and values.Fosters and maintains collaborative working relationships with all CARTI team members.Creates a sense of community within the nursing division.Establishes aspirational, yet appropriate standards for nursing quality and care and develops corresponding plans to achieve those goals.Develop annual operating goals and budget for Nursing Services. Controls nursing services operating costs within budget parameters.Seeks opportunities to standardize and harmonize workflow between all practices.Communicates clearly, effectively and often with the nursing division team members.Makes all efforts to be visible and openly communicate with front line staff and providers.Drives and supports a culture of excellence.Responsible for hiring, onboarding and continuous education and training of nursing talent.Authors, reviews and revises clinical policies and procedures to reflect evidence-based practice of nursing/scribe staff throughout CARTIs practice locations.Coordinates the completion of performance evaluations for nurses with the physician practice division. Develops performance expectations and departmental objectives for nursing/scribe staff positions to ensure knowledge, competency, efficiency, safety and productivity.Demonstrates working knowledge of applicable labor laws. Schedules and coordinates employee vacations, sick leave and overtime.Coordinates the inclusion of professional standards of organizations such as ONS, ASCO, ACR, ACRO, ASTRO, CLIA, and OSHA into the patient service procedures.Actively monitors patient and provider satisfaction and makes appropriate changes to ensure top level performance. Coordinates with nurse educator for orientation, skills validation training/in-services as required on updated drugs, protocols, and policies/procedures.Establishes criteria for professional organization participation and certification.Develops new services and activities for patients, families and staff in accordance with practice objectives.Provides support and direction as required in the area of clinical research in the practice and ensure nursing/scribe staff compliance to the established research protocols.Monitors and communicates the results of quality measures with clinic teams.Serves as liaison with department supervisors hiring for nurse positions to align orientation, skills, and competency and assure work assignment within scope of practice.Focuses on community relationships that ensure continuity of care for CARTI patients.Serve as CARTIs content expert and liaison with the Arkansas Nursing Board and associated regulations.Develops and maintains up to date contracts with schools of nursing to serve as a clinical site and development of relationship with students for future nursing staff.
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS: Travel throughout central Arkansas to satellite clinics.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Supervises all nurses and personnel assigned to the Nursing department in all locations.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE and REGISTRATION:
Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (MSN preferred) from an accredited school of nursing.RN License (AR or Compact State) - Arkansas State Board of Nursing (ASBN).Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Chemotherapy Certification preferred.Oncology Nursing Society certification (Oncology Certified Nurse, Nurse Executive or other approved certification) preferred.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
8 years of clinical practice as an RN, required.3 years of formal healthcare leadership experience, required.Two years oncology experience, preferred.Knowledge and experience in the management of the physiologic and psychological effects of cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment.Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care.Ability to maintain quality control standards.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must interact and communicate both verbally and in written form.Must interact and exchange information regarding patients with physicians and other departmental personnel, and outside agencies on a frequent basis while respecting the confidentiality of patient information.
