We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Respiratory Therapist (RT) to take ownership of the Respiratory Program within our facility. This role is ideal for an RT who is confident working independently while providing expert care, guidance, and advocacy for residents requiring respiratory support.

Key Responsibilities:
Program Ownership: Manage and oversee all aspects of the facility's Respiratory Program, ensuring residents receive high-quality respiratory care.
Assessments & Documentation: Initiate, document, and maintain all necessary respiratory assessments and supporting paperwork.
Therapies & Interventions: Provide essential respiratory therapies, including:
Nebulizer treatments
Positive Expiratory Pressure (PEP) therapy via Acapella
Manual Chest Physiotherapy (CPT) (as needed)
Incentive Spirometry
CPAP checks for residents with personal home units
Pre- and post-bronchodilator FEV1 and FVC assessments, including those for neurological patients (e.g., Myasthenia Gravis)
Resident Advocacy & Care Excellence: Identify residents in need of respiratory care, ensure proper documentation, and prioritize optimal treatment and advocacy.
Expert Support & Collaboration: Serve as the on-site respiratory care expert, assisting staff with respiratory-related questions and concerns. Utilize facility and regional resources as needed for additional support.
Independent Functioning: Work autonomously as the primary RT on shift, demonstrating confidence in assessments, interventions, and decision-making without an immediate RT team.
Administrative & Technical Skills: Maintain accurate records using Excel spreadsheets and facility-specific software; a level of computer proficiency is required.
Qualifications & Skills:
Licensed Respiratory Therapist with relevant certifications.
Strong assessment and communication skills to provide quality care and collaborate effectively with staff.
Ability to work independently, with limited direct RT support on-site.
Experience in long-term care or a similar setting preferred but not required.
Computer literacy for documentation and tracking program components.
