The Product Manager will be accountable for product management and development for a new product portfolio for Genie and Overhead Door brands and other brands assigned. This position is responsible for managing and improving the profitability and growth for the product line, from new products through end-of-life. The Product Manager will work with sales to drive profitable growth and grow market share as well as work with the broader organization to drive improvements. This position will also ensure that new product positioning, pricing, cost, margins, and quality targets support the overall product portfolio strategy and direction.
Minimum of 7-10 years product management / marketing experience in consumer durable goods, preferably electrical / mechanical consumer goods
Business development and product marketing background, with experience developing product plans, strategy work and new product development
Knowledge of processes related to brand marketing, market research, sales training, and field communications
Computer literate in MS Office products. Excellent written and oral presentation skills - for both internal groups as well as clients and trade groups/ seminars
Good problem-solving skills.
B.A. / B.S. in d egree in Marketing, Business, or Engineering with business experience.

Strategic Partnership Development: Identify, evaluate, and cultivate strategic partnerships with leading technology companies, smart home platforms, and service providers to enhance the interoperability and functionality of our garage door products.
Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders at partner organizations, including executives, product managers, and technical teams, to ensure alignment of objectives and successful collaboration. (this is where having "teeth" in a title can go a long way)
Negotiation and Contracting: Lead negotiations of partnership agreements, including terms, pricing, and commitments, to establish mutually beneficial relationships and drive revenue growth.
Voice of Customer: Conduct consumer and dealer market research and translate consumer and research into deliverable features and benefits that enhance the product value.
Product Roadmap: Create and own the 3-year product plan for the category, developing strategies differentiation and cost reduction that increase product sales and margins. Identify and develop product category extensions and evaluate opportunities for profitable commercialization.
New Product Development: Develop and manage new product introductions across current Genie channels as well as security and systems integrator channels. Develop tailored programs for each channel while avoiding channel conflict.
Marketing Enablement: Work with marketing team to develop and execute a marketing plan to grow a new product category. Develop and launch an industry-leading organic marketing plan, complemented by strategic paid advertising that maximizes return on investment. Work with brand management and sales to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer.
Sales Support: Provide sales team with sales tools, training, and support. Serve as the internal and external representative for the product category.
Customer Support: Monitor and improve product quality issues through working with customer service, to identify design and manufacturing issues and reduce call volume. Provide technical assistance as needed.
