Shop Mechanic 2025 (Maintenance)
Inspect, test, diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance all BSS vehicles, machines and equipment (diesel, propane and gasoline) including but not limited to:
Mowers
Snow blowers
Vehicles
Trailers
Snowplows
4-Wheelers
Trimmers
Various random pieces of equipment and small engines
Create, clearly communicate and accurately document a plan of action and/or options for all repairs
Stay well within budget parameters and take a strategic approach to maximize equipment while minimizing cost
Track inventory and order new supplies when necessary
Accurately forecast necessary supplies and equipment for the upcoming year
Perform duties with minimal supervision
Keep very accurate service records of time and materials, creating maintenance schedule
Create accurate Standard Operating Procedures for all routine work and follow protocols, while following all health and safety laws and guidelines, as well as common sense safety practices, for services such as:
Dismantling devices to gain access to and remove defective parts
Common field repair that can be taught to all employees using equipment
Adjusting functional parts of devices and control instruments
Repairing and replacing defective or worn parts, including welding
Regularly lubricating and cleaning parts, tools and vehicles
Reporting and recording an accurate service log
Keep work space, entire shop and exterior of the shop or yard tidy, well organized, safe and clearly labeled so that all tools and supplies are accounted for and are easily accessible
Play an integral role in establishing parameters for use of equipment and vehicles, educating employees
Possess ability to apply knowledge to similar equipment
Determine the financial feasibility of outsourcing versus internally repairing larger projects
Willingness to work on any company crew (BSS prefers and provides opportunities for year-round employment)
