Project Manager (Information Technology)
**Summary:** The Project Manager for Fire Protection is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of fire alarm and fire protection projects. This role requires a thorough understanding of fire protection codes and standards, the construction industry, as well as experience in managing projects from start to finish. The Project Manager will coordinate with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
**Key Result Areas:**
1. **Project Planning and Execution**
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Ensure all project activities comply with fire protection codes and standards.
- Coordinate with design teams to produce accurate and compliant fire protection designs.
- Manage project schedules and ensure deadlines are met without exceeding budgeted hours.
2. **Client Communication and Relationship Management**
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, understanding their design needs and construction deadlines.
- Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders, providing regular updates on project progress.
- Address any changes in project scope or deadlines promptly and communicate the impact on costs and timelines.
3. **Quality Assurance and Compliance**
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress and ensure compliance with fire protection codes and standards.
- Review and approve project submittals, closeouts, and necessary documentation.
- Ensure all designs, hydraulic/seismic calculations, and listings are free from substantial errors and omissions.
4. **Team Coordination and Leadership**
- Organize project teams, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Coordinate with other trades and departments to ensure projects deadlines are met and completed without exceeding budgeted hours.
- Provide guidance and support to team members, helping them grow professionally in the trade.
5. **Continuous Improvement and Professional Development**
- Stay updated on the latest fire protection codes, standards, and industry best practices.
- Identify areas for improvement in project management processes and implement changes as needed.
- Pursue relevant certifications and training to enhance professional knowledge and skills.
6. **Documentation and Reporting**
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all project activities, including budgets, schedules, field changes, and communications.
- Prepare and submit regular project status reports to senior management.
- Ensure all project documentation is properly scanned, filed, and accessible for future reference.
