Cross-functional role within Receiving, Stock Room and Shipping. Support the receiving, stocking, picking, kitting, and releasing of parts and products that are used or produced by manufacturing, and shipments to LI-COR customers. Responsible for ensuring accuracy, processing, data entry, and delivery of parts and materials internally and externally at LI-COR.
Job Qualifications and Requirements
Education
High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience
Minimum one year of manufacturing-related experience.
Previous experience working in a Stock Room, Warehouse, Cycle Counting, or Picking/Packing role is desired, but not required.
Previous experience working with computer data entry is desired, but not required.
Some evidence that demonstrates an aptitude for a high degree of accuracy in dealing with parts, numbers, and transactions.
Forklift certification and/or working knowledge of forklift operation is required.
General
Ability to meet the Physical Requirements of the position.
Must have a current driver's license and a good driving record (3 years minimum) which can be verified with the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Excellent physical dexterity and motor skills to be able to handle, sort, and count small parts.
Specific vision requirements include close vision and the ability to distinguish colors.
Good reading (English) comprehension skills.
Good oral communication and listening skills to communicate effectively with Supervisor, co-workers, and delivery personnel.
Adequate comprehension to understand and perform basic arithmetic.
Must have an inclination toward a high level of accuracy and the ability to recognize and reconcile discrepancies.
Must be dependable, cooperative, have good attendance, and represent LI-COR in a positive, professional manner.
Roles and Responsibilities
Maintain a working knowledge in the three key functions of Logistics. Role will work within Receiving, Shipping and Stock Room to maintain and support each role. Individual will carry out tasks within each group, including but not limited to the following job functions.
Specific - Receiving
Examine for correct item (compare Part Number on part received to Part Number ordered and compare to existing stock). Reconcile any discrepancies.
Pull samples of received parts and materials according to Sampling Plans.
Examine and inspect parts for surface defects, blemishes, imperfections, etc. and other obvious faults according to Inspection Plans. Initiate Non-Conforming Material Reports (NCMR's) for defective parts. Ensure appropriate follow-up.
Count items received and compare to Vendor count to ensure completeness of order. Reconcile any discrepancies.
Route parts to the appropriate LI-COR personnel for further inspection as required per computer records.
Pack and unpack items to be stocked. Stock parts as required for manufacturing, engineering, and other departments.
Label incoming parts and bag when necessary. Deliver to stock room or assembly work cells.
Perform all receiving computer transactions.
Unpack and inventory instruments and/or accessories received for repairs or service.
Deliver received/expressed items quickly to the recipient (shipments on dry ice, overnight and/or "rush" packages, etc.).
Manage the recycling of cardboard boxes. This includes making sure the temporary storage bins are unloaded to ensure empty boxes are not stored on the floor, taking boxes to the compactor and operating the compactor.
Specific - Stock Room:
Pick and kit parts and materials for work orders. Responsible for ensuring accuracy of all kits for assembly, processing and data entry, and delivery of parts and materials to Assembly.
Maintain stock shelves by keeping them well labeled and organized. Store parts in an orderly and accessible manner.
Perform issue and receipt computer transactions.
Perform inventory cycle counts. Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts. Investigate inventory discrepancies and adjust errors by making count adjustments as required.
Perform all stock adjustments due to change orders.
Receive and stock assemblies generated from work orders.
Mark, label, or otherwise identify stock items using identification tags, stamps, marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
Ensure proper rotation of stocked parts and materials.
Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to Supervisor.
Move pallets and/or containers of inventoried parts to stock room and warehouse locations.
Coordinate the delivery of raw parts to local businesses.
Package and ship Non-Conforming and defective parts for shipment to suppliers.
Specific - Shipping
Accurately stage, pick, pack, crate, label, and ship Customer orders, manuals, publications, spares kits, accessories, and Service/Repair orders in a manner that complies with shipping regulations and LI-COR procedures to avoid any damage to the shipment.
Ensure accuracy of all items for shipment and processing/data entry.
Maintain Serial Number Log of shipments.
Know, understand, and comply with shipping carriers' requirements for domestic and international shipments by way of DOT and IATA regulations. Certification in IATA and DOT will be required within first year of employment.
Periodically determine method of shipment and packing materials and methods as required for the shipment.
Affix all required labels to packages and shipments including labeling for dangerous goods, hazardous and fragile materials, stacking restrictions, flammable, etc.
Interpret packing slips and pick lists, enter information accurately into LI-COR MRP system and freight carrier systems such as UPS/FEDEX.
Complete Bills of Lading and be familiar with various forms that are used and required by major freight carriers.
Accurately estimate weight and calculate shipping costs.
Maintain all packing and shipping equipment.
General
Assist in other department functions.
Operate all material handling equipment, including carts, dollies, hand jacks, and forklifts.
Ensure exterior doors and all access points are locked and secure when not in use.
Maintain supplies by checking stock to determine inventory level. Anticipate needed supplies. Place requisitions and/or orders for supply replenishment.
Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly work environment by complying with all pertinent rules, procedures, regulations, and policies.
Coordinates on-line pick-ups of various parts, crates, & containers to Suppliers via LTL truck lines.
Manage all trash, used pallets, and recyclable receptacles for pick-up on appropriate days.
Restock copier paper to various departments as required.
