Position Summary — The Casino Shift Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the activities of the Casino during assigned shift.
Essential Functions — An individual in this role must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Managing and leading a team of employees during a specific shift. Providing guidance, support, and direction to ensure the team's productivity and efficiency.
Ensuring that workflow processes are followed and that tasks are completed on time. Coordinating and prioritizing tasks to meet operational goals.
Training new employees on departmental processes, procedures, and safety protocols. Providing ongoing training to existing staff to enhance skills and performance.
Monitoring the quality of work and output produced by the department. Implementing quality control measures to maintain high standards.
Ensuring that all safety regulations and protocols are followed. Conducting safety inspections and addressing any potential hazards.
Facilitating communication between team members and other departments. Reporting shift-related updates, issues, and achievements to higher management.
Addressing and resolving issues or conflicts that may arise during the shift. Collaborating with other supervisors or managers to solve more complex problems.
Managing resources, such as equipment, materials, and supplies, to support departmental activities. Reporting any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs.
Tracking and assessing the performance of individual team members. Providing feedback and coaching to improve performance.
Ensuring that guest service standards are met or exceeded. Addressing guest inquiries or issues as they arise.
Maintaining accurate records of shift activities, including production reports and incident reports. Providing documentation for managerial review and analysis.
Ensuring that employees adhere to company policies, procedures, and guidelines. Enforcing disciplinary actions when necessary.
Communicating with supervisors from other shifts to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of operations. Sharing relevant information for cross-shift coordination.
Responds to guest and staff concerns and complaints.
Verifies and authorizes slot related transactions.
Stays up to date on all special events and promotional activities.
Investigates incidents, interviews witnesses, and drafts legible, factual reports.
Ability to assist Casino Management in termination procedures for employees.
Qualifications
High school diploma or G.E.D. and customer service, supervisory, and at least one to two (1–2) years casino operations experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to lead and motivate team members, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Skilled in problem solving and critical thinking.
Skilled in the use of Microsoft Suite and Adobe.
Ability to communicate professionally.
Ability to read, comprehend and interpret complex written and oral instructions.
Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of the Gaming Industry and the laws and regulations governing gaming operations.
Knowledge of current and evolving MICS, SICS and applicable gaming regulations.
Ability to remain calm in emergencies or stressful situations.
Ability to operate hand-held radio, speaking clearly, using established signals & codes
Other Requirements — Required to obtain and maintain a Seneca Cayuga tribal gaming license and a state issued I.D. All applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening prior to beginning employment. Must be at least 18 years of age per gaming regulations.
Physical Requirements — Physical requirements include standing and walking for long periods of time and use of whole-body motion and sitting for long periods of time at workstation. Must be able to lift-up to 25 pounds and perform repetitive tasks requiring manual dexterity, speed and concentration.
Work Environment — Grand Lake Casino is a drug and alcohol-free workplace; Must be able to work in a casino environment which includes high levels of smoke, dust, noise, and bright flashing lights.
Special Working Conditions — This position requires the flexibility to work any shift, including weekends and holidays. Must be able to work under pressure.
