Director Finance (Finance)
The Director of Finance is a self-starter, analytical thinker, and problem-solver delivering insightful analysis to improve business performance. This person will be responsible for preparing short and long-term financial plans, monitoring and analyzing performance to budget/forecast, monthly forecasting, communicating results to management, and disseminating timely and relevant financial data to support decision-making.
The Director of Finance is not only a financial expert but is also a business partner that supports the segment's leadership with all aspects of the business, including but not limited to business plans, pricing, capital requests, and contract negotiations. This person facilitates the attainment of the segment's profitability, growth, and strategic goals by providing in-depth financial analysis to understand and explain business drivers.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Accumulate and report accurate and reliable information on the financial and operational performance of the segment.
• Provide in-depth financial analysis to understand and explain segment drivers. Analyze revenues and expenses and present results and recommendations for improvement.
• Active participation in influencing segment growth, direction, and strategic planning including development and evaluation of business cases for strategic initiatives.
• Work with segment leadership to develop and approve the financial portion of commercial proposals. This includes developing anticipated costs, profit margins, and cash flows. It also includes understanding the entire proposal to ensure both financial and business risks are understood and the price reflects the risks.
• Support the segment in policy making and decisions aimed at increasing sales, enhancing productivity, and reducing cost.
• Develop finance team members by recruiting, training and coaching employees. Leads by example, providing finance staff with informal and formal feedback for employee development.
• Support Segment's President and corporate office in financial matters including reporting, operational reviews, and audits.
• Prepare monthly forecast for P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow
• Compile monthly Operating Report in support of quarter-over-quarter, year-over-year, and budget-to-actual analysis.
• Lead in a manner that supports FMD's values of velocity, teamwork, and integrity.
• Support external and internal audits.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; MBA, CPA, or CMA preferred.
• International finance experience is a plus.
• Minimum five years of successful leadership and management experience required.
• Strong understanding within manufacturing, service, parts and aftermarket sectors preferred.
• Experience in Government Accounting standards and regulations is preferred.
• Effective influencing skills with the ability to motivate and enlist cooperation within the organization.
• Expertise in Excel and PowerPoint.
• Must possess excellent communication skills - both written and oral.
Work Location: Greater Boston, MA area preferred; domestic and international travel up to 25%
