Family Medicine is a department within the Morsani College of Medicine with faculty who teach medical students, physician assistant students and pharmacy students; provide patient care at the USF Healthcare medical clinics and engage in research into health disparities, sports medicine related injuries and chronic health conditions.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Athletic Therapy position provides rehabilitative services to the athletic population that the University of South Florida College of Medicine, Department of Family and Sports Medicine services including but not limited to- the USF Athletic program and the Tampa Bay Sun FC organization. This includes but is not limited to- physical therapy services, athletic training services, rehabilitation, prevention, wellness, and physician referrals as needed. The position would also contribute to research activities within the College of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs evaluation and treatments of patients in accordance with established standards of care and practice including selecting assessment tools, tests and measures, goal setting, etc. Specifically, overseeing the rehabilitation for the USF Intercollegiate Athletics program, the Tampa Bay Sun FC, and other sport/active entities as assigned.
Promotes growth and development of Rehabilitation Therapy services by assisting in special projects and/or coordinating Rehabilitation Therapy activities in patient care programs to prevent injuries/illnesses.
Collaborates with team members on research opportunities, engaging in speaking opportunities, physical therapy and athletic training student education.
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: MINIMUM:
A Bachelor's degree in a health-related field such as anatomy, physiology, biology, chemistry, or physics; and a graduate from a physical therapy program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education. Requires Florida State Licensure as a Physical Therapist.
PREFERRED:
5-7 years of experience working in a collegiate and/or professional sports setting; Soft tissue mobilization/massage/manipulation techniques; Board Certified Sports Clinical Specialist; Dry Needling Certified; FMS Functional Movement Training; Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
