Corporate Development Manager (Project Management)
SUMMARY
Execute day-to-day deal management, including interfacing with Legal, IT, HR, Finance, investment bankers and other internal and external resources supporting Jabil's M&A activities. Responsible for supporting the Corporate Development Vice President and Directors in identifying strategic product and/or company acquisition candidates as well as the establishment of creative new R&D ventures and strategic alliances.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Employee and Team Development:
· Identify individual and team strengths and development needs on an ongoing basis.
· Create and/or validate training curriculum in area of responsibility.
· Coach and mentor team to deliver excellence to every internal and external customer.
Performance Management:
· Establish clear measurable goals and objectives by which to determine individual and team results (i.e. operational metrics, results against project timelines, training documentation, knowledge of operational roles and responsibilities, personal development goals).
· Solicit ongoing feedback from peers and other team members on individual's contribution to the corporate initiatives.
· Provide ongoing coaching and counseling to team members based on feedback.
· Express pride in team and encourage them to feel good about their accomplishments.
· Perform team member evaluations professionally and on time if required.
· Drive individuals and the team to continuously improve in key operational metrics and the achievement of the organizational goals.
· Coordinate activities of large teams and keep them focused in times of crises.
· Ensure recognition and rewards are managed fairly and consistently in area of responsibility.
Communication:
· Participate in communication forums for the exchange of ideas and information with the department.
· Organize verbal and written ideas clearly and use an appropriate business style.
· Ask questions; encourage input from team.
· Assess communication style of individual team members and adapt own communication style accordingly.
FUNCTIONAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Strategy and Direction:
· Know and understand the corporate strategic directions.
· Assist in the definition, development and implementation of the Corporate Development strategy, which contributes to the corporate strategic directions.
· Develop an understanding of the workcell business strategy as it pertains to Corporate Development, and work closely with the Business Units to achieve overall business objectives.
· Perform periodic research on EMS industry and current and potential customers, and propose creative ideas to grow Jabil's business based on such research.
· Provide regular updates to superiors and team on the execution of the strategy.
Cost Management:
· Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems (i.e. modification of responsibilities or consolidation of tasks, elimination of non-value-added processes, or complete re-engineering of processes and systems).
· Utilize tools to monitor both internal and external costs and cost trends, striving continuously to improve value.
· Provide feedback to peers on cost and cost trends.
Forecast Development and Accuracy:
· Provide expense budgets when required.
· Challenger of M&A Finance submitted deal economics: Pre-tax margins, RONA and other relevant metrics.
· Compare forward forecast results to historical actual results for trend assessment and analysis.
TECHNICAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
· Identify and pursue strategic product and/or company acquisition candidates.
· Identify creative new R&D ventures and strategic alliances.
· Contribute significantly to all stages of business development: candidate identification, commercial assessment, business terms development, deal negotiation and implementation.
· Develop and maintain expertise in specific industry sector.
· Manage internal and external resources in executing day-to-day deal management, including taking an active role in financial modeling, proposal preparation, due diligence/data room management, negotiation of deal agreements, etc.
· Develop current and future business expectations and drive within organization.
Corporate Responsibilities
· Clearly understand all operational elements of Jabil's Business.
· Assist with integration of mergers and acquisition activities into mainstream.
· Demonstrate a commitment to customer service; anticipate, meet, and exceed expectations by solving problems quickly and effectively; making customer issues a priority.
· Exchange knowledge and information with other Jabil facilities to ensure best practices are shared throughout the Jabil organization.
· Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor.
· Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
