Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc.
Temporary Marketing Automation Associate (Marketing)
This position is a member of the Society Programs and Audience Engagement team in Technical Activities. The group is responsible for coordinating over 1000 email outreach campaigns annually on behalf of Technical Activities business units (Societies, Councils, Technical Communities, etc) to support its membership, subscription, and product sales, create awareness of its programs, and otherwise increase engagement among TA's audiences.
The group also handles a wide array of tasks from managing a growing portfolio of roughly 200 periodicals, supporting TA's product development/fulfillment efforts, and providing an interface between TA volunteers and IEEE staff teams related to preparations for the annual renewal of subscriptions/memberships. Some of the outreach campaigns would be associated with these annual activities.
This is a high contact position, requiring independent judgment and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and volunteers. It provides an excellent opportunity to develop skills using state of the art marketing automation tools. This role typically reports to the Manager Audience Engagement and Communicaitons, and functions as an individual contributor working along side two other campaign colleagues. The role typically acts under regular supervision and follows established procedures.
The role is primarily responsible for working with TA staff/volunteers to understand campaign objectives, gather language and needed details, schedule and engage in the official intake of the requests to be executed by the MSD/BDRS Campaigns and Display Advertising teams, perform limited HTML coding for proper formatting and linkage of content, testing of email marketing campaigns and display advertisements, and developing and sharing KPIs associated with the campaign efforts. We utilize the Marketo/Knak system for building and sending the campaigns. Coordinated project planning may link multiple campaigns together within a larger communication strategy, so relaying to others an understanding of interrelated efforts is also needed.
The incumbent in the role also participates in the daily "mini seed" process to validate content and links before production. The process includes personally testing the communication, gathering and communicating volunteer and/or staff feedback on their testing, and either applying feedback directly to the HTML source document or ensuring the task of addressing the problem reported is carried out by others. Other responsibilities include trafficking, creating and archiving campaign content editorial packets, maintaining daily and monthly campaign spreadsheets, and updating the daily production agenda. The Campaign Associate Temp also pulls campaign, promotion, and display ad performance data, and supports staff associated KPI dashboards along with ad hoc data analysis assignments. In all activities, the Campaign Associate Temp maintains accurate, auditable documentation, and adheres to established SOPs and best practices.
The Campaign Associate Temp does additional projects and duties as determined by his/her supervisor. Examples may include, but are not limited to, sizable time spent gathering and validating requirements for the annual renewal efforts for subscriptions and memberships, information gathering, analysis, certificate development, and reporting for staff/volunteer decision-making. Infrequent travel may be involved, usually to our board meetings to meet some of the volunteers or to the IEEE NYC office, while helping with the overall meeting tasks as assigned.
