Job Summary: The Hospitality Aide is responsible for assisting with various administrative, clerical, and resident-support tasks to ensure the efficient operation of the facility. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and residents.
Become familiar with the facility's administrative structure through pre-training orientation.
Assist at the nursing station with secretarial tasks such as making copies and filing.
Answer phones, especially during mealtimes.
Assist residents and staff with errands.
Report accidents, incidents, or changes in residents' conditions to the Charge Nurse or Nurse Supervisor.
Resident Assistance & Care Support:
Answer call bells promptly and report needs to CNA/Nurse.
Assist residents with tasks such as opening/closing blinds, adjusting blankets, and ensuring call bells are within reach.
Transport residents to meals, activities, and outdoor areas.
Provide Reality Orientation to residents as instructed.
Assist residents with identifying food arrangements and serve between-meal snacks as needed.
Ensure that non-verbal residents are checked frequently.
Pass linen, make unoccupied beds, and add extra covers as needed.
Maintain residents' water pitchers, ensuring they are clean and filled with fresh water.
Check rooms for food safety, ensuring proper storage and disposal of unauthorized items.
Room & Facility Maintenance:
Maintain clean and orderly resident rooms and common areas, including utility rooms, showers, bathrooms, and break rooms.
Straighten resident closets and drawers, labeling belongings accordingly.
Ensure rooms are prepared for new residents (bed made, name tags up, admission kit available, etc.).
Assist with packing and transporting personal possessions during transfers or discharges.
Wash wheelchairs, walkers, and other equipment as instructed.
Clean and disinfect resident care equipment after use.
Perform routine housekeeping duties related to nursing care (e.g., clean bedrails, tables, and nightstands).
Keep floors dry and free from clutter; report spills immediately.
Ensure excess supplies and equipment are properly stored.
Safety & Compliance:
Follow policies regarding exposure to blood and body fluids.
Report defective equipment and supply needs to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information.
Report safety hazards, grievances, complaints, and allegations of resident abuse or property misappropriation.
Follow established safety precautions and infection control protocols.
Participate in OSHA, CDC, and facility training programs related to hazard communication, TB management, and bloodborne pathogens.
Operate only the equipment for which proper training has been provided.
Resident Interaction & Conduct:
Treat all residents with kindness, dignity, and respect.
Knock before entering resident rooms.
Honor residents' refusals of assistance and report them to the supervisor.
Create a warm and positive environment throughout the shift.
Escort new residents to their rooms and introduce them to their roommates and staff.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Minimum of an 8th-grade education required.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business publications and professional documents.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to apply fractions, percentages, and ratios.
Ability to problem-solve and interpret various forms of instructions.
Certificates, Licenses, & Registrations:
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite products is required.
Physical Demands:
Occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds.
Prolonged use of a desktop or laptop computer.
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, read, or hear.
Frequent use of office equipment such as copier, scanner, fax, telephone, and calculator.
Work Environment:
The noise level is typically low to moderate.
