Has knowledge of and ensures that the Assisted Living staff adheres to State and Federal rules and regulations concerning delivery of resident care. Maintains, interprets, and adheres to facility policy and procedure. Maintains a quality assurance program for services that includes: infection control audits; safety audits; skin audits; resident care audits; environmental audits; chart audits; nutritional/weight audits; medication audits and employee competency audits. Ensures that all medications, treatments, and plans of care are administered as ordered in collaboration with the RN Care Manager. Responsible for communicating professionally with State Surveyors during annual State Survey. Coordinates with the functions and activities of other departments. Is informed regarding residents' conditions, including when a significant change in residents' condition warrants nursing or medical intervention. Reads daily 24 hour report and acts accordingly. Meets often with the RN Care Manager concerning resident conditions and nursing care delivery. Evaluates nursing care delivery by making rounds on a daily basis. Attends resident care planning conferences. Develops and maintains personnel policies of recruitment, orientation, in service education, evaluation and termination of Assisted Living staff. Interviews staff and assists with decisions on hiring. Ensures adequate staff orientation. Ensures all mandatory in services are held along with other in services needed according to facility QA trends.Ensures adequate nursing services staffing according to State/Federal requirements. Ensures that each employee recognizes legal responsibilities and functions within scope of practice. Performs disciplinary action of nursing personnel and counsels as necessary. Demonstrates professional responsibility of conduct and maintains confidentiality at all times regarding residents and employees. Determines staff's capacity for providing nursing care for any person seeking admission to the facility. Assists with taking resident intakes for admission to facility. Maintains adequate supplies for nursing care delivery. Works the floor as needed or when there is a call in for staff if a replacement staff is not available to cover the shift. Interacts with all members of the interdisciplinary team in a professional manner.• Interacts with resident families in a professional manner. Acts as a resource person and accepts guidance from available resources. Participates in the education of staff, residents and family members. Recognizes and strictly adheres to the legal responsibilities and functions within scope of practice. Reports all problems, needs, concerns to the Administrator immediately. Supervisory Requirements The Assisted Living Manager is responsible for supervising and managing the care givers and the entire staff in the Assisted Living either directly or indirectly. Qualification Education and/or Experience Minimum Requirements to perform this position include: High School Diploma is required. Associates or Bachelors degree preferred. Must be an AL Manager licensed in the state of TX or be willing to complete the TX AL Manager course to become an AL Manager within 6 months of the start date. Experienced in the care of geriatric residents with 3 years experience preferred. Demonstrated leadership abilities. Proven ability to communicate effectively to staff, residents and family members. Excellent organizational, written and verbal skills required. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure policies/manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees. Mathematical Skills Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations To preform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in the Microsoft Suite products. The TX Assisted Living Certificate must remain in good standing with all federal and state agencies governing AL licensing.
