Graphic Designer (Creative Design)

Essential Functions:

Collaborates with department clients to provide graphic design product that will visually present ideas, concepts, and data to best support departmental programs and objectives; assesses graphic design needs; formulates and presents ideas and recommendations regarding media, formats, and design elements; prioritizes assignments; provides proofs or drafts for review and discussion; and completes projects on schedule.
Creates original print and digital projects using a variety of graphic design software and tools, to include videos, exhibits, signage, logos, newsletters, presentations, calendars, brochures, flyers, websites, emails, sketches, maps, or reports; selects appropriate media, materials, and formats; conceptualizes layouts; selects appropriate design elements; formats text and artwork; takes photographs for use in projects; writes or edits content as directed; ensures accuracy and clarity of visual information; and integrates elements to publish final project.
Produces and distributes final media projects; may operate print shop machinery and equipment to produce projects in-house; coordinates production of print, promotional, or audiovisual materials by outside vendors; and prepares, packages, and distributes final products.
Maintains and organizes inventory of supplies, digital design elements, and completed projects.
Maintains and upgrades knowledge of design practices, trends, computer software, and computer hardware, and equipment.
Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures; receives and reviews various documentation, requests, and proof; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate; prepares or completes various forms, reports, and other documentation; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records.
Communicates with department staff, other departments, vendors, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Communications, or related field required; one year of experience in graphics design, communications, or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
