View Point Health is a community behavioral health organization utilizing a team of psychiatrists, nurses, licensed counselors and social workers, as well as other professionals to provide services to individuals who need treatment and support to cope with mental illness, substance abuse/use, and intellectual and developmental disabilities. View Point Health serves uninsured, underinsured, low-income Medicaid, Medicare, war veterans and some private insurance across multiple locations with a full continuum of behavioral health services and support.
MIXTURA PREVENTION CLUBHOUSE program provides programs and services to children between the ages of 12 - 17 that address risky activities, such as gang violence, drug and substance abuse, difficulty meeting academic standards and health-related issues.
Participation is limited to children and youth who are not currently using or abusing alcohol and/or drugs and have no history of a substance use or abuse diagnosis and meet one of the following criteria:
Children or youth involved in ongoing detention and/or alternative school involvement in the past year.
Children or youth whose parent(s) have current addiction issues or have been treated for addiction.
Children or youth experiencing education or social issues that would make them at high risk for substance abuse issues.
Children who have siblings are currently receiving treatment for substance use disorder.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Plan, direct, and implement social services for behavioral health programs of Mixtura Prevention Clubhouse for at risk youth ages 12 to 17 years old.
Establish and oversee administrative procedures to meet objectives set by Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) contract guidelines for services offered such as: Peer support, Education and Employment programs, clubhouse activities/social club, family involvement, transportation, nutrition, and aftercare services.
Evaluate the work of staff through supervision and feedback on their performance.
Facilitate weekly staff meetings.
Supervise and support clubhouse staff including social service professionals, drivers, and support staff.
Coordinate services with other View Point Health (VPH) departments to ensure that VPH policies and procedures are implemented on-site.
Research and analyze youth needs to determine program direction and goals.
Prepare and maintain records and reports including budget expenditures for Mixtura Prevention Clubhouse activities such as supplies, nutritious meals, and outings.
Build and maintain relationships with community partners, donors, and other stakeholders.
Represent VPH at community events, meetings, and conferences. Act as consultant regarding the interpretation of program-related federal, state, and county regulations and policies.
Complete monthly program and expenditure reports for grantors.
Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field AND two (2) years of experience as a Child Social Worker, Youth Behavioral or Rehabilitation Counselor, or related working with at risk youth in developing and facilitating educational or life-skill building programs based on their age and developmental needs. Must pass criminal background check with fingerprints and drug test. Subject to random drug screens.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual: English/Spanish
Certified Addictions Counselor in the state of Georgia- (or nearing completion of certification process)
At least 3 years of experience working with children and adolescents.
2 years of management/supervisory experience a plus
Requirements/Competencies:
Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
Requires long periods of sitting/standing.
Must have valid Georgia driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record in accordance with company policy.
Candidates for selection must pass a criminal background check (including fingerprinting)
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and subject to random drug screens.
Any combination of training and experience, which would have enabled the applicant to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities Note: Some positions may require a valid driver's license.
