Regional Tree Care Leader (Maintenance)
Key Responsibilities:
-Ensures all safety procedures are implemented at all times
-Ensures the number one priority of all crews and personnel is safety first
-Assumes full responsibility for multiple tree care accounts
-Manages customer expectations efficiently
-Proposes tree care pruning, removals and plant health care recommendations and is able to implement with crews
-Understands different pruning techniques and is able to implement with crews
-Understands principles of tree removals, including rigging techniques and is able to implement with crews
-Implementation of work zones during tree care operation, so that the crewmembers and general public are kept safe
-General understanding and implementation of traffic control, when necessary
-Manages all tree care tools and equipment, so that unsafe and malfunctioning items are removed from service immediately, until repaired or replaced
-Manages regular service schedule for trucks and equipment
-Addresses risks and hazards associated with all tree care operations (e.g. utility lines, space requirements etc.)
-Develops and creates full tree care plans that include GIS mapping of trees along with recommendations
-Utilizes company software correctly to schedule and manage accounts
-Completes paperwork and customer requests accurately and on time
-Creates effective reports and presentations using company templates
-Attends client board meetings, conducts landscape walks with clients and independently
-Makes responsible recommendations to clients
-Addresses risks and hazards associated with all tree care operations (e.g. utility lines, space requirements etc.)
-Tags removals ahead of time and works to direct crews on scope of work performed
-Completes business processes in a timely and accurate fashion
-Complies with and acts as role model for all organizational policies and procedures
-Is available for "on call" emergencies
-Provides excellent service (e.g. accurate, complete, timely) to clients, team members and other Bemus staff
-Follows up on outstanding proposals with clients
-Works with Human Resources to ensure that proper traffic control permits and measures are in place
-Sends tree care schedule to maintenance division and managers ahead of time
-Post tree trimming notices when necessary
Key Performance Indicators:
-Manages all tree care accounts to achieve overall profitability to company standard
-Retains client accounts through client relationships and quality performance
-Follows and directs staff in all safety policies and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries
-Produces high quality work that is on time
-Communicates effectively: follows up and doesn't need to be asked twice, keeps others posted on progress
-Manages tree task log to ensure requests are completed on time
-Schedules, tracks and completes work tickets
Primary Skills and Education Required:
-Positive attitude; ability to follow rules and instructions, work safely, and work well with others
-Communicate effectively in written and spoken English
-Possesses a valid California Driver's License with acceptable driving récord
-5 years of professional tree care experience
-A 2 or 4 year degree in Horticulture, Plant Science or other related field is beneficial
-A combination of experience and education as outlined above is ideal
-Working knowledge of the principles, practices and methods associated with tree care (e.g., tree identification, plant health care recommendations, pruning types, tree risk assessments, recommended removals etc.)
-Competence in math and technology
-Good time management and organization
-Ability to solve problems in a positive and practical manner
-Applies principles of supervision and team building
-Ability to lead and manage a team
-Ability to multi-task and handle a fast-paced work environment
-Ability to work well under stress
-Focuses on exceeding the expectations of customers
-Applies principles of supervision and team building
-Obtain ISA Certified Arborist certification within the first 6 months on the job
-Obtain ISA TRAQ (Tree Risk Assessment Qualification) within the first 2 years on the job
-Obtain Qualified Applicator's License (QAL) within first year
-Obtain TCIA Certified Treecare Safety Professional (CTSP) is encouraged
Work Environment:
Work is predominantly outdoors, exposed to varying temperatures, weather conditions, and noise levels. Exposure to dust, pesticides, fertilizers, grease, oils, dust, fumes and electrical currents will occur. Standing for long periods, walking for long distances, or crouching, is commonplace, including on narrow, uneven and/or slippery surfaces. The job requires stooping, lifting, carrying or otherwise transporting up to 50 pounds. Driving to and from worksites may be required. Frequent and repetitive use of hand and powered tools is required. Use of computers, phones and other technologies will be necessary.
